If you keep all your sessions in a single sessions folder, you can catalogue that folder with Neofinder, and then set up smart folders in Neofinder based on the Capture, Selects, and Output folders. Neofinder is a little rough around the edges, but more powerful than it first looks. Also my files are in Tiff format so at any time I decide, I can switch to any software I want without losing my processing effort. If I see anything I missed in processing I can correct it right there. The Library Module & Collections make for a great way to navigate my final images and LR does provide many excellent methods for distribution. Once I am 99% done with processing I export the image to Tiff in a final location and use LR as my "Portfolio". Overall I prefer to do my global adjustments in Luminar and my local adjustments in PS. dng file so that's when I export to Tiff. If I want a more realistic look I prefer "Dx0 Photo Lab" which won't handle a. With this method the De-mosaic process has already been completed so most any software can translate the format correctly. I find all three of these formats do very well at eliminating the "Worm Effect" and provide a good starting point for processing. Then I use Camera Raw to export to Tiff, Iridient DNG, or Enhanced DNG. Currently I really like the "Review Mode" in Bridge for sorting out what I am going to process. I decided to go with "What Does What Best" for me. Although I really do know LR and like the way LR works - I've used it for years. Personally I really don't care for catalogs (In fact somewhat hate catalogs) which makes Capture One just as bad as LR (If not worse). There is still good reason to look at the alternatives. However Adobe does have serious problems with customer relations - they need some serious attitude adjustment in my opinion. So subscription really doesn't bother me anymore. I had a hard time with Adobe slamming to subscription method down our throats, but after going through just about every alternative out there I have come to realize the advantage of automated updates. I asked myself: what about my electronic circuit board projects? I will do such a project, I will devote two weeks, and then I will finish my term license and I will not be able to see it again without another fee. However, this company has been sold to a large corporation and now you can only buy a temporary license (month, year). A year ago, I resigned from the program for drawing electronic boards. If I want to buy a perpetual license, I should be able to do it. I know that in corporations it can even be a viable model. Therefore, I am very suspicious about the ideas of software leasing. And what will happen if someone turns off the electricity for two weeks? I will not eat if I do not have private paper money. Right now I will not pay in the store with a card if there is a failure of the payment terminal. If I only believed in plastic cards, I would give my fate to the hands of strangers. I have a home, wife, family, car and some paper dollars in my pocket. In the press I see articles praising the lack of ownership of houses. Leased vehicle (ie, the car belongs to the bank), if the money then only a card (preferably, if cash was never there), licenses for use (also a form of leasing), and even rented houses (but not your own). For some time now we have heard that it is best not to own anything. Their method for doing this just obviates the need to have a separate mode for trials. You can still try it out, and not have to pay. Do you have Netflix, Hulu, HBO, cell phone service? The modern tech world go’s-round on monthly subscriptions for service. If you don’t like it, don’t buy into it, but also don’t complain. They are a business and have a business model. I honestly don’t get the ire aimed at Adobe. We all spend mega-more-than-that on camera gear w/o blinking an eye and then often upgrade to the next Fuji iteration w/o blinking while taking a beating on the depreciation. I spend more money on Starbucks a month than I do for this world class photo processing and graphics software. So the cost is at worst a “push.” I never owned the licensed versions, I only had a license to use them. That’s about the same price I paid to do major upgrades (while having to wait for a major upgrade to get signficant new features).

For a measly ten bucks a month, I have the latest Lightroom, Photoshop, Adobe Camera Raw and Bridge that are all incrementally upgraded with new features on a fairly regular basis.
